Me
My name is Lorraine Oakman (formally
Hewitt), I was born and lived in Maidstone until I married in May 2010 when I then relocated to Hastings to live with my husband Neil. I became a
Christian in 2006 and thoroughly enjoyed being part of the huge family
at The Beacon Church, Maidstone and am now attending St Helen's Church,
Ore, Hastings. I have made many new friends who are fully supportive in
everything I do. I see this adventure in starting the website,
Artography Images, as an opportunity to share my creative gift
with others. I have always been interested in "doing" something with my
hands, be it art, embroidery, photography, making models, or even
getting mucky under the bonnet of a car!
My Art
I have always "doodled" from a young age,
passed GCSE Art and have continued to practise. I took a 6 week basic
course in watercolour, spent about a year gaining experience and
knowledge at Novus Studios in Wateringbury, Kent, where some of the work
here on the site was produced and otherwise am self taught. I have
been inspired by many artists and some of the images on the site are
based on works by the greats, including Claude Monet, Andre Derain and
Turner to mention just a few. I have no real preferred style, I just try to create something
that is on my heart, or inspires me and hope that it will touch others
in some way.
My Photography
With my photography, I always enjoyed
taking my camera away on school trips and holidays and it is since
around 2006 that I discovered a major passion for it. I love how you
can capture the unusual and other types of images that people may see,
yet still miss. I like all types of photography from still life and
flowers, to portraits and the big expanse of landscape. I also like to
create effects on images using computer softward to bring a different
feeling to the shot. I belonged to The Beacon Church Camera Club and then joined Tovil Camera Club and with relocating am now a member
of the Ore & St Helens Camera Club in Hastings. It is great to be
challenged with others, learn from the experienced and help those new to
digital photography, I would recommend it to anyone.
I hope the above has given you insight to who I am, a bit of history and
what "makes me tick", and if you have any questions, please feel free
to contact me via the link at the top of the page.
May you be encouraged, uplifted, inspired or touched in some way by what you see during your visit.
Many thanks,
Lorraine
